We offer a free initial consultation to understand your case and explore potential solutions.
Should you decide to retain my services, I will issue a retainer or engagement in writing using the most practical method.
Here are your options:
client is given a paper copy of the retainer agreement or engagement letter in person, by mail or by courier for signature.
emailing the terms of engagement and asking the client to confirm and acknowledge the terms by email.
sending an electronic copy of the agreement for e-signature.
Clear communication with our clients starts with strong documentation of the paralegal-client relationship. I use retainer agreements, engagement letters and non-engagement letters to manage expectations, explain terms and avoid misunderstandings with clients.
You can schedule a consultation by using the forms on my website. An email confirming your appointment will be sent to you.
Please bring relevant documents, identification, and any questions you have regarding your case.
The Law Society of Ontario requires that during a consultation meeting, clients should be prepared to discuss their case, fees, and any documents they have related to their legal matter.
It is important to note that the consultation is not a legal service and does not include any legal work. Clients should also be aware of the new identity verification requirements for virtual consultations, which mandate the use of technology to authenticate clients' identification documents.
Think about what you want to say.
Be ready to tell your story in a clear and logical order. You might want to write down dates and important points.
Be prepared to talk about fees. A lawyer or paralegal may need some money - a retainer - so that he or she can begin working for you right away.
If this meeting has been arranged through the Law Society Referral Service, you are entitled to a free consultation of up to 30 minutes.
Our fees vary depending on several factors and the complexity of the case. In general, licensed paralegals charge between $180—$250 per hour.
I document the terms of our engagement with all client when:
acting in a limited scope retainer
providing legal services on a contingency fee
Demand letters or Credit/Debit Issues can be done at my flat-rate pricing for clients whose cases do not need ongoing legal support, starting at $275.00 plus HST and disbursements. The letter will be sent to one recipient by certified mail or digitally.
No retainer is required for tasks that can be billed at a flat fee.
Fee structure varies based on case complexity. We provide transparent pricing and collaborate with clients to find the best financial arrangement.
Paralegals must also confirm the matter falls within their permitted scope of practice.
Reach out by telephoning me directly for an immediate response to scope management.
